What Information do we collect?

In order to answer enquiries, make and design a cake for you or to book you on to a class, some or all of the following information may be collected:

The above information is collected through emails, text and FB messaging, class bookings completed online or via the telephone and is used solely for the purpose of fulfilling the order.

This information is required in order to contact you regarding your cake order or class booking.

Sharing your personal details

The Really Special Cake Company does not share, sell or lease information about you with outside parties.

Any personal photos you send that are used to create an edible print for inclusion on your cake are emailed for printing by a local cake decorating shop in Thornbury. These are emailed anonymously, and with the instruction that they are deleted on completion of the order. We use Finishing Touches in Thornbury to supply our edible printing needs.

Opt-In Newsletters and Cake Class Newsletters

Newsletters and information on new classes are sent via Mailchimp. If you decide to join our mailing list, we usually collect your first name, surname and email address.
You will not be added to one of our mailing lists without your explicit permission.

By subscribing to the above you are agreeing to The Really Special Cake Company sending out information on classes and other news we think you may find of interest. If at any time you wish to unsubscribe, just click on the ‘Unsubscribe’ link which is provided at the bottom of each newsletter.

Security

In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, The Really Special Cake Company has put in place appropriate physical and electronic procedures to safeguard and secure the information collected.

Credit and Debit Card Information:

The Really Special Cake Company does not collect any credit or debit card information. Online customers pay us via PayPal. You can find out more about PayPal’s terms and conditions here.

Mailing Lists:

The Really Special Cake Company uses MailChimp to store mailing lists securely, to write and send our newsletters to you. MailChimp are committed to GDPR compliance.

You can opt out of receiving marketing emails at any time by following the instructions to unsubscribe in any of our email marketing communications. It can take up to 48 hours for your change in preference to take effect and the change will not affect any marketing emails that have already been scheduled to be sent in the future.

Data Retention

If you have ordered a cake or cake class from us in the past we keep certain information about your previous orders (a copy of the order form, your name, telephone and email, and any emails relating to the order). The data is generally kept for 7 years, though it may be longer if the business requires.

Other personal information including personal photos you send to assist with the design or for inclusion on a cake are only kept for as long as necessary to provide you with the service you require and deleted within 28 days of completion of the order.

Your Personal Information

The Really Special Cake Company will not sell, distribute or lease your personal information to third parties and completely supports the right to be forgotten online.

All information we have collected about you will be deleted if you ask us to.

We will get back to you within two weeks of your request. If, for any reason, it takes us longer than that to confirm that we have deleted your data, we will let you know straight away and explain why.
